APAC DAO at FI Day by Sberbank: A Global Conversation on Web3 and Finance

As global financial systems continue to evolve, meaningful progress increasingly happens through cross-regional dialogue — where institutions, builders, regulators, and ecosystem leaders come together to exchange real-world insights rather than abstract theory.

In this spirit, APAC DAO participated in FI Day, a major international finance and innovation forum hosted by Sberbank, the largest bank in Russia. The event convened leaders from financial institutions, Web3 infrastructure providers, technology companies, and global media to discuss how Web3 and digital assets are reshaping financial infrastructure in practice.

Representing APAC DAO and the broader Southeast Asian ecosystem, Nicole Nguyen, Founder of APAC DAO and Vietnam Fintech Summit, joined a panel discussion focused on the future of finance, institutional adoption, and the role of emerging markets in the next phase of digital financial innovation.

From Emerging Markets to Global Relevance

During the panel, discussions moved beyond speculative narratives to focus on practical implementation — how financial institutions, regulators, and technology providers are navigating digital assets today.

Nicole shared insights from Vietnam and Southeast Asia, regions that are often characterized by rapid adoption paired with cautious regulatory development. Rather than pursuing unchecked growth, many markets in Southeast Asia are taking a measured approach, emphasizing:

  • Regulatory experimentation through sandbox models
  • Infrastructure readiness before mass adoption
  • Public–private collaboration as a foundation for policy design
  • Alignment between innovation, compliance, and financial stability

These perspectives resonated strongly with a global audience, highlighting that emerging markets are not merely following trends, but actively shaping practical pathways for digital finance adoption.

Web3 and Financial Infrastructure: Moving from Theory to Practice

A central theme of the FI Day panel was the transition from conceptual discussions about Web3 to real-world financial infrastructure deployment.

Panelists examined how blockchain technology, digital assets, and decentralized systems are being integrated into existing financial frameworks — particularly in areas such as payments, settlement, data integrity, and cross-border transactions. The conversation underscored that meaningful adoption requires more than innovation alone; it demands institutional-grade infrastructure, risk management, and regulatory clarity.

Nicole emphasized that in Southeast Asia, digital asset development is increasingly tied to real economic use cases, including financial inclusion, efficiency gains, and regional connectivity. This pragmatic approach aligns closely with APAC DAO’s belief that Web3’s long-term value lies in utility, governance, and sustainable design.

Building Bridges Across Regions

APAC DAO’s participation at FI Day marked its first engagement in Russia, representing an important step in expanding dialogue between the Asia-Pacific ecosystem and Eastern European markets.

These cross-regional conversations are essential at a time when financial innovation is becoming increasingly global, while regulatory and market conditions remain highly local. By sharing lessons learned across different jurisdictions, ecosystems can avoid repeating mistakes and accelerate responsible innovation.

The discussions at FI Day opened new opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and partnership exploration between APAC DAO, regional institutions, and international stakeholders interested in Asia-Pacific markets.

APAC DAO’s Role in the Global Web3 and Fintech Ecosystem

APAC DAO is committed to building bridges between builders, institutions, and regulators across Asia-Pacific and beyond. Through initiatives such as Vietnam Fintech Summit, international partnerships, and global engagements like FI Day, APAC DAO works to ensure that voices from emerging markets are included in shaping the future of digital finance.

Nicole’s participation at FI Day reinforced APAC DAO’s role as a connector and advocate for responsible innovation — bringing grounded, market-driven perspectives into global conversations on Web3 and financial infrastructure.

Looking Ahead

As digital assets and Web3 continue to mature, the future of finance will not be defined by any single region. It will be shaped through ongoing dialogue, shared learning, and collaboration across markets.

APAC DAO looks forward to deepening its engagement with global partners, expanding cross-border collaboration, and continuing to bring Southeast Asia’s insights into international discussions.

We thank Sberbank and the FI Day organizing team for hosting a thoughtful and impactful forum, and we look forward to building on the connections and conversations initiated in Moscow.
